Introduction to Leveling
Leveling up efficiently is one of the biggest challenges in Celtic Heroes. Because experience awards are based on the relative levels of you and your target, the choice of mobs and zones greatly affects your progression. The game is designed to reward players for fighting enemies roughly their own level; taking on foes that are too low yields almost no experience, and tackling monsters more than a few levels higher is rarely efficient【243060891539815†L43-L65】. The sections below outline general tips and offer zone recommendations for each level range.
Experience System & Tips
- Fight mobs close to your level: Experience drops off dramatically for enemies more than a few levels below you. The biggest gains come from fighting mobs 1–3 levels above your character, ideally with two or three stars【243060891539815†L76-L78】.
- Don’t group for XP: Grouping divides experience among all members. Unless you’re fighting bosses, soloing or grouping with players at your level yields the best returns【243060891539815†L80-L83】【243060891539815†L118-L123】.
- Follow the main quest: The main quest chain guides you through zones that match your level and rewards substantial experience. Even on alternate characters, it’s worth completing【243060891539815†L84-L90】.
- Use knowledge elixirs wisely: Super Knowledge Elixirs double your experience for 15 minutes of in‑game time. Experienced players log out between kills to conserve the timer【243060891539815†L100-L108】.
- Save for a rejuvenation amulet: Invest early in a Gold Rejuvenation Amulet or similar regeneration gear so you can fight continuously without waiting for health and energy to recover【243060891539815†L133-L144】.
Recommended Leveling Zones
The following table summarises popular leveling zones and quests by level. Stick to enemies that are your level or slightly higher to maximise experience【432171224497703†L29-L33】. For the earliest levels simply follow the starting quests; as you progress, venture into the recommended regions.
| Level Range | Zones & Tips |
|---|---|
| 1–20 | Follow the starter quests through Lir’s Reach and its sub‑zones (Farcrag Castle, Crookback Hollow, Highshore Village and Bandit Camp) into Dustwither Catacombs【441160441547442†L94-L97】. |
| 20–30 | Begin in Dustwither Catacombs. Start with acolytes and skeletons near the entrance and move north as you gain levels【441160441547442†L100-L104】【432171224497703†L45-L46】. |
| 30–60 | Head to Shalemont Ravine. Complete the MacCroin Encampment quests and fight mobs along the eastern lake; cross the bridge at level 35 and progress toward Greygorge【441160441547442†L111-L117】【432171224497703†L48-L54】. Alternatively, visit Fingal’s Cave and its Twisted Tunnels from levels 40–50【432171224497703†L50-L54】. |
| 60–80 | Travel to Stonevale. Work through the quests “The Evil in Stonevale” and “Tam Lin” at Stonevale Farm; kill fairies, wisps, unicorns, druids or sewer creatures【432171224497703†L57-L61】. |
| 80–100 | Enter the Otherworld. Kill Eyes from 80–85, Hawkhurst bandits from 85–90, and zombies from 90–100【432171224497703†L63-L66】. |
| 100–120 | Stay in the Otherworld to hunt Trees and Kelpies【432171224497703†L67-L68】. |
| 120–130 | Fight Wraiths, Blackstones and lower‑level Boggans near the Boggan cave entrance【432171224497703†L70-L72】. |
| 130–160 | Grind Boggans—choose mobs close to your level. Around levels 149–151 you can kill dragons in Loch Dorcha【432171224497703†L74-L76】. |
| 160–170 | Move into the Firbolg caves and kill Firbolgs; around 165–166 start killing Trolls【432171224497703†L78-L82】. |
| 170–180 | Continue killing Firbolgs and Trolls until you reach 180; begin transitioning to Carrowmore Tunnels as your gear and team permit【432171224497703†L82-L84】. |
Higher levels (180+) require coordinated groups and often revolve around boss encounters rather than pure experience grinding; consult your clan for up‑to‑date strategies.
