What is Cooking?
Cooking is a life skill introduced in Celtic Heroes that allows players to craft restorative dishes and consumable buffs. Prepared food can restore health or energy instantly, and some advanced recipes even grant temporary bonuses. Cooking is governed by two statistics: proficiency and mastery. Higher proficiency lowers the chance to burn food, while higher mastery increases your chance of a critical success (Perfected or Exquisite dishes)【686432030966960†L152-L166】.
Proficiency, Mastery & Quality
Proficiency is the main cooking ability. As your proficiency increases, the chance of burning food without using extracts decreases【686432030966960†L155-L160】. Mastery determines the quality of your dishes: Normal, Exquisite or Perfected【686432030966960†L162-L168】. Higher mastery levels improve your odds of producing Exquisite or Perfected meals, which provide additional restoration or longer‑lasting buffs.
Food quality is tiered as follows:
- Normal (1) – the standard result when your proficiency is sufficient but mastery is low.
- Exquisite (3) – produced with moderate mastery; restores more health/energy than Normal.
- Perfected (2) – the rarest result, offering the highest restore or buff values.
Extracts & Spices
Extracts are magical ingredients used in recipes to ensure food doesn’t burn and sometimes provide other effects. Each extract is associated with a range of recipe levels【686432030966960†L169-L190】:

- Crystal Extract: Used in end‑game recipes above level 120【686432030966960†L187-L190】.
Spices can be purchased from fishing vendors to spice up your recipes. They include basil, pepper, mint, dill and coriander, each sold at progressively higher‑tier fishermen shops【686432030966960†L194-L210】.
